Against all Odds

An undisciplined, self willed life is inferior in size, strength and significance, an obedient, God willed life is spacious, extensive, huge & tremendous. Why? Because God is!
Fear of God is a school in skilled living - first you learn humility, then you experience the glory of the winner’s podium. Prov 15:31-32

When your circumstances

  • seem impossible
  • when getting out of your predicament seems to difficult
  • when all seems lost and over
  • when God seems distant from your needs
  • when your hopes and dreams seem to have been stolen from you
  • when you feel like an island in the crowd
  • when you lie awake at night and loneliness surrounds you.

This is when we have reached our desert in life and it is…

ONLY THEN WE WILL BE ABLE TO SEE!

God says…
‘See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.’ – of your circumstances! Isaiah 43:19 nkjv

Because until now we have been looking at the wrong thing!

Job spoke of his trials in…

Job 28:1 "Surely there is a mine for silver, and a place where gold is refined. 2 Iron is taken from the earth, and copper is smelted from ore. 3 Man puts an end to darkness, and searches every recess for ore in the darkness… nkjv

Silver = redemption   Gold = value   Iron = strength

Silver = redemption

  • He has a plan of redemption set in place for you before you even started in this trial. He has already crafted a good end to your crisis.
  • What the enemy meant for your destruction God uses for your restoration!
  • We want cover the mine with a stone to get some peace because we hate the pain of expectation. God cannot restore what you won’t bring into the light.
  • God wants you to have what life took from you.

Gold = value

  • You find out who you are. Psalm 139:14…   for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
  • You find out who God is.

Iron = strength to overcome

  • You find out the strength God put in you.
  • You find out how strong God is.
  • This trial will cannot over take you because He stands with you.
  • This iron remains and the next time it goes through the furnace of trial it becomes steel.
  • Steel is produced from refiring iron.

Start digging!  -

  • Have the courage to put a light on the dark places of your life. 2 Tim 1:7 power = courage.
  • See this is as an adventure!
  • You are not on your own so there is no need to fear.
  • Discover your worth… you are not a mistake. God loves you - be open to loving yourself!
  • Discover what God has made you of. Challenges will bring out the best in you.

But you say ‘I had a bad start!’ Grew up in the wrong family, on the wrong side of town, went to a bad school, I mixed with the wrong people… I did so many wrong things.

But this does not change who you are! Separate the ‘who’ from the ‘do’!

You are not what you do!

We come through our parents but we are of God.
Psalm 139:13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb.

You are made in His image we are not an evolutionary accident.
Gen 1:26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;
Gen 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him;

  • God made us complete, lacking nothing just as God lacks nothing.
  • If we chose to deny this it does not change the fact that we are made in His image.
  • You can rob yourself of this belief by choosing to believe something else.
  • The fact is that sin has stolen the image He intended you to reflect.
  • Satan has come to kill steal and destroy – we look at the wreckage and live in it, because we are looking at the wrong thing. We look at the 'do' rather than the 'who'.
  • Connecting with God restores His image in you.

John 10:10 The thief has not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

There are all these things in YOU, but you have to discover them, start digging and believing.

The enemy has already been defeated for you by Jesus, BUT if you do nothing then he is still able to defeat you. And you will remain defeated.

Do something!    Start Digging!

So… how do I dig?

  • Specific – What do I want? (Vision for a better life). What is your vision? If you haven’t got one then ask for one. We all have something we would like... nothing is impossible!
  • Measurable – Make a plan to get you there. Do what you can do and stick to it. Even the smallest thing you do is a part of the ‘new thing’. Testimony – did courses gained knowledge - keep doing it. Stepped out into places I hadn’t been before… the new thing.
  • Attainable – What resources do I need? You have the resources which is ’the spring in the desert’ - wisdom & knowledge. Testimony - I had the desperation… which fuelled my determination, I invited God to meet me at my low point and He honoured my determination and gave me hope. My hopes are being realised.
  • Realistic – I can use what I have and what is available to me to use. Take up the shovel and start digging, go with the plan and stay in the plan, because it’s a good one.
  • Action – If we do what we can do and this will enable Him to do what we cannot do.
    • Look at possibilities.  In God all things are possible.
    • Look at what is possible for you to do no matter how insignificant you may think it is.
    • He will take your smallest positive action and make your impossibles… possible!
    • He will then add more possibilities to that. With 5 loaves and 2 fish and He fed 5000! And had left overs! He wants you to live a more than enough life!
    • You can trigger God’s blessings for your life by taking the first step.

Eph 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.

It is in you!
Do you believe it?
It is yours to have!
Do you claim it this day?

  • Timely – Now is your time to dig!
    • Where you are today is no accident.
    • This is the new thing that has sprung up for you in the desert.
    • Today... is the day He has provided for you.
    • Take your opportunity.
    • It will never be as easy to do, than it is for you to do now.

2 Cor 6:2 "In the time of my favour I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God's favour, now is the day of salvation. –
And the redemption of your situation and circumstances!

  • This is the mine in which you will find the Silver and the Gold and the Iron.
  •  He is no respecter of men.
  • What He has done for others He will do for you.

How do I know this?
Because I have seen what He has done for me so far… and I know the best is yet to come!

Because He is able.
Because it pleases Him to do so.
Because He is…

The One and only Redeemer.
The One and only Saviour.
He is my Healer.
He is my Hope.
He is the lover of my soul.
He is the Lamb of God given to us to take our guilt away.
He is the Lion of Juda who fights for me.
He is called Faithful and True.
He is called El Shaddai, the God of the impossible.
He is the Alpha and Omega.
The Beginning and the End.
The First and the Last.
He sustains all things.
In Him all things were created.
He is the author and finisher of our lives.
He is the judge of all the nations.
He is the river of life.
His name is called Wonderful, Counsellor and Almighty God,
Everlasting Father and Prince of peace!
His name is called the Word of God!
On His robe is written The King of all Kings and The Lord of Lords.
His name is… Jesus Christ! Hallelujah!

Do you get lonely?

You never have to be alone again.
Jesus stands at the door of your heart and knocks.
Let Him in and your life will never be the same.
He will never leave you.

A simple prayer ' Jesus if you are real I want You to be real to me. Please come in to my life and be my friend, help me to follow You all of my days. Forgive me of all my mistakes and take the guilt and shame away. I want you to be my Lord and Saviour from today. Amen'

If you prayed this prayer drop us an email and so we can help you on your new journey.
