Butterflies butterfly

2 Cor 5:17 (NKJ)
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

When I was a child my mother made me a fancy dress outfit so that I could look like a butterfly. My bike was also done up. I loved it. The wings, the colour, the feel of it all was so bright and happy. I must have been around 6 years old but I still remember how fantastic it was to be a butterfly.

When I was 16 years old I was to be baptized in the Lane Cove River Park (Sydney). (With mud up to my shins)  I had attended Faith Centre, the first church I had been to.

I was trying to grasp what this ‘born again’ experience meant. I can truly say when I was baptized I came up out of the water and I knew what ‘born again’ meant.

I felt new all over. I looked down the river and felt my ‘old ways’ were gone. I was new from the inside out. God had washed my sins away and made me new.

In the Wikaipedia the word ‘born again’ in Christianity means rebirth. A butterfly has a ‘rebirth’. I felt like the butterfly.

The butterfly goes from a magnificent transformation from a caterpillar crawling along the ground to a beautiful butterfly, free to fly anywhere.

This process is called metamorphosis. It is a change of habitat and behaviour. The whole countenance of the caterpillar is changed. How incredible to watch this.

It is the same with us. When we ask Jesus into our heart a change occurs… we become new. Our mindsets change, our hearts change and our attitudes change.

We look at our future from a different view point. No longer are we limited to scratching around on the ground like the caterpillar but we made free to fly and soar.

We are made able to be the ‘head’ and not the ‘tail’. This is a new way of looking at things, this is a new way of living.

In Dan’s book 'How I Quit Being Angry' he explores the right tools we can use in our lives. Amazingly!.... we already know what these new tools are!

As God said...

Jer 31:33
'I will put My Law in their minds and write it on their hearts and I will be their God and they shall be My people'.

These tools help us to ‘fly straight’ to rise above our circumstances... shedding off our old ways.

You never see a butterfly trying to wriggle back into the cocoon and prefer to be back on the ground?

So we must learn how to use these 'new' tools and a new way of living.

Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with WINGS AS EAGLES. They shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.

It's ours to have... go for it!
