WHO AM I?

I have often heard ‘Fred’s life is so dysfunctional and he keeps making bad choices… but he loves God why doesn’t he get his act together and fix up his life’.  This statement has always bugged me and for years I didn’t understand why.

The truth is ‘Fred’ may believe in God, however he does not understand and believe how much God loves him and as a result he does not know who he is. If he did then he would be overwhelmed by God’s love. So much so he would understand who he is and value himself so to the point where this revelation would influence his choices.

Jesus spoke about this fulfilling the Law knowing full well we could not achieve this in our own strength. However many take it as all we have to do to please The Father so they live a life of trying to fulfil this commandment… perform to please.

Matthew 22:37-39
37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’

It’s all about receiving love from God which is His grace not trying to qualify by loving which is law.

The experience of being loved makes us into lovers.

Grace is unmerited favour

Nothing we can do will or can add to what Jesus has already accomplished for us on the Cross.

If we can understand His love for us and live in it then we position ourselves where we know we live the head and not the tail, above and not beneath our experiences from day to day. Not only that but we have more than enough to a point where we become givers and not takers not by our own works but because from the resource God has put in our hearts…. which is way more than we need for ourselves.

1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

Fear comes from torment, but perfect love casts out all fear. If Our Father loves us so then when we face needs such as finance, health, housing, family reconciliations etc, we need to know He gave His only Son up for us in order that we will never lack. If He were to hold back on providing for our needs then this does not make any sense! Is providing our needs more valuable to Him than His Son?

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 19 We love Him because He first loved us.

He made us in His own image Gen 1:26, so why would He deny Himself? If He were to deny Himself then He would deny us.

Identity has been lost by theft through a lie. Why… because we look at our behaviour and not who we are and become lost in a place where we are in need of acceptance, value and purpose.

God chose us we didn’t choose Him. He knows who you are and this is why He left the ninety nine to go fetch you.

Matt 18:12  “What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying?

Who are you then?

Psalm 139:13
For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvellous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skilfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,

The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.

17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You.

Reconnection to the Father, our rightful place which we were designed and made for comes to us by welcoming Jesus’ offer of friendship. Accept and believe.

So now because of who you are you are restored into His family (His Kingdom) as Royalty.

So what does one who is born into royalty inherit?

Let’s consider Prince William who is born into the Royal family of England.

Without any qualification he inherits;

Privilege

      • Undeserved or unearned favour
      • No striving to qualify
      • Everything is given to you
      • Entrusted with responsibility
      • Put in a position to be influential

Purpose

      • Purpose is a result of who he is
      • To serve
      • To be an example
      • To love and care for the people he serves

Provision

      • Given all he needs to fulfil purpose
      • Will never suffer from lack
      • No need to strive to try to earn his position
      • Anointed with the grace to play part

1 Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

From here we can live with the attitude of privilege and not striving to obtain our rights, purpose, provision, peace, acceptance, in fact all our needs and desires.

John 14:14  If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

Know who you are, understand your value, know your life is significant walk in His love for you and live in peace as it has all been taken care of already with Jesus' finished work on the Cross.

Our Father wants to bless you with all good things.

His blessing is ongoing and forever, far more than you dreamed or desired.

Our Father is an extravagant giver, so don't feel you have to qualify to receive He loves you more than you can begin to imagine.

KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND LIVE IN IT!
