A Higher Place

He makes my feet like a deer,
And sets me on my high places. Psalm18:33

Daniel 9:27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.

‘An end of sacrifice and offering.’ Jesus is the final sacrifice and we are the offering coming from that sacrifice to the Father i.e. the fruit of that sacrifice.

He made us the perfect gift.

The Father treasures the gift and does with it as He pleases and uses it for what it was made for.

The gift is not what we do but who we are. He loves, enjoys, delights and cares for His gift not for what it does but for what it is.

What we do is the result of obedience out of love for Him nothing else is worthy. Legalistic life choices or rule following (or sacrifices and offerings) is not the answer as we see here in Matt 7.

Matt 7:21 - 25 "Knowing the correct password - saying 'Master, Master,' for instance - isn't going to get you anywhere with me. What is required is serious obedience - doing what my Father wills. 22 I can see it now - at the Final Judgment thousands strutting up to me and saying, 'Master, we preached the Message, we bashed the demons, our God-sponsored projects had everyone talking.' 23 And do you know what I am going to say? 'You missed the boat. All you did was use me to make yourselves important. You don't impress me one bit. You're out of here.' 24 "These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. 25 Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit - but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock. (The Message Bible)

Religion says in order to reach God we must follow rules to make our selves worthy enough to be acceptable. But the truth is we can never measure up to the level of acceptance required to be able to have that relationship with our Father, He is Holy we are not. Jesus made us acceptable as His sacrifice covers our unholyness and we are made into an acceptable gift.

1 Samuel 15:22 NIV

But Samuel replied:
"Does the Lord  delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord ?
To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.”
‘An end to sacrifice.’

To be the perfect gift is to be obedient. Love God, others & yourself broadly speaking. However day to day obedience goes like this...

'Lord what do you want me to do in the situation?’

Don’t act in your own understanding, be led by the Him. Ask before you act, He has higher ways than we do.

To be otherwise is to rob the Father of the fullness of His gift which is you.

How do we rob the Father?  - When we practice our own agenda.

Our own agendas dis-empower the Father’s use of the gift and we rob Him. In turn we rob ourselves. His intention is to take you to places you never dreamed you could go or do things you never thought you could do, give you things you never thought possible and have an influence to more people than you could ever imagine... if you remain as a gift to Him.

His agenda is to bless us so much that it overflows and out of our abundance we end up blessing those around us as a result. It’s not our agenda it’s a result of the incredible love God imparted on us.

We are not our own but have been bought with a great price, we no longer have rights but privileges. This is the life of freedom, no planning or stress about tomorrow a life of peace where the yoke is easy and the burden is light.

God pays for what He orders, He won’t finance our agendas. He orders our  blessings in life. If we go through life trying to bless ourselves we will never be satisfied. Stress and worry about tomorrow will always be at the back of our minds. No peace. Peace is linked to assurance that we are cared for by our God who is greater than us and our circumstances. Money can never bring peace only a comfortable lifestyle. Money can be gone in a day, His provision is forever! No bank can promise you that.

So... for me it’s the high places each day, a place of adventure and purpose, acceptance and love. Value in all I do and appreciation of who I am because of what He has and is doing in me which is more than I could have ever understood or hoped for!

If you dont know Jesus personally all you have to do is ask Him into your heart...
No qualifications or training required... He says...‘ Behold I stand at the door (of your heart) and knock, if you hear me knocking and open the door I will come in (into your life) and dine with you (be a close friend forever).
